CHRISTMAS SHOEBOXES FOR SAMARITAN’S PURSE: Although it may seem early to think of Christmas Shoeboxes, this is the time of year to buy some items that fit the shoeboxes. Many of the boxes go to warm climates, and we can buy some items best in the summer. Particularly, these include flip-flops, sun hats, and bandanas. The dollar stores have these. Please purchase to fit children’s sizes for ages 5 to teens. If you want to purchase any quantity of these, you can give them to me to use in the boxes that I fill in the fall using donated funds. James Matheson (Spider): It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Robert Matheson “Spider” on June 28th, 2021. The service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford, on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 1pm.

The flowers today are placed in loving memory of “SPIDER”, officially known as James Robert Matheson, much loved member of Calvin Church Family and the Abbotsford Community. He will be truly missed by many.

SENIORS CONNECT STEERING COMMITTEE: Our next meeting will be this Wednesday, July 21st at 11AM in the gathering space. New members welcome.

JIGSAW PUZZLES: Are you looking for something fun to do while spending time at home? We have a small collection of jigsaw puzzles that can be signed out at the church office during office hours. There are some that are 300, 500 and 600 pieces. If you have some puzzles that you would like to donate to the collection that would be great! To be in line with COVID restrictions, we will hold back returned or new incoming puzzles for 4 days before putting them into circulation. If you are not driving at this time and would like one or two puzzles to work on, you can call Marilyn Instant @ 604-855-9124 or Don Blaak @ 604-866-3710 and we will drop off a couple at your door. Let’s keep our brains exercised!

LADIES BIBLE STUDY: The Tuesday Ladies’ Bible Study members are so thankful the church’s zoom account enables us to gather online for two hours weekly ‘face to face’. We rejoice at the privilege it is to pray and study and fellowship together, supporting one another, and lifting up praises and petitions in Jesus’ name. We are beginning a new study and suggest now would be a great entry point for new members. SENIORS MINISTRY INITIATIVE AT CALVIN: We, the seniors ministry steering team, had our first meeting on Tuesday. The attendees were Margaret Brown, Jim Happer, Richard & Philippa Hay, Thomas Kim. We had a lively discussion and shared various ideas for this new initiative. The team is going to meet in two weeks and inviting anyone who is interested in planning together. Please contact Thomas Kim for any questions or more information.
