The library at Calvin has not had an active librarian for several years. I have filled in a bit since I resigned when Hans retired; however, the library needs an active committee to keep it going. I am going to be moving this fall to Nanaimo where my daughter lives. I am happy to give a job description for the role, as I have said before. In fact, it would be best if several people worked together to form a team, lessening the responsibility for any one person. It does need, however, a team leader to oversee the library. There is a digital catalogue of the books, pretty well up to date. If there is someone or several folks who have had any experience in this area, the library could certainly benefit from your wisdom and interest. Please speak to Colleen. Thank you.
CALVIN CHURCH CHRISTMAS CHOIR
We are looking for individuals who love singing to form a choir for our upcoming Advent / Christmas season. Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary and will continue each Thursday evening until December 1st and followed on Sunday, December 4, 2022 with an evening choral celebration at Calvin Church. The choir is open not only to members of Calvin Church, but to all members of our Abbotsford community, so feel free to let your friends know. No choral experience is necessary, and all are welcome. For more information, please contact Don Blaak (email@example.com).
NEW MEMBERSHIP CLASSES
If you would like to become a member at Calvin Presbyterian Church, new membership classes are available. Speak to Thomas Kim.
There will be a potluck lunch right after the worship service on Sunday, October 2nd. Everyone is welcome, and helpers are needed. Please sign up in the Gathering Space. Thank you. -Joyce Tiessen-
CALVIN CHURCH PICTORIAL DIRECTORY
We are still collecting photos of members and adherents of Calvin Presbyterian Church. If you consider Calvin Church your church home, and have not yet had your photo taken for the directory, please contact either Don Blaak (604) 866-3710; email: firstname.lastname@example.org), or Pastor Thomas Kim (778) 598-2214; email: email@example.com) to make arrangements. We can take photos at the church after the Sunday morning worship service or come to your home throughout the week.
SEPTEMBER FOOD BANK SOUPer September
Other needs this month are tuna, cereal, and pasta. Thank you to everyone who has supported the food bank initiative this year. The need is great.
CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX COLLECTION: Samaritan’s Purse Shoeboxes can be placed on the table outside the office window in the gathering space until the final collection date of Sunday, November 6th. We encourage families to work together to fill a box or two. Those wishing to donate, instead of shopping for the items, may do so by contributing $30.00 per box, which includes $10.00 for shipping. Monetary donations need to be in no later than Sunday, October 16th. Please contact Margaret Houtby for further information at (604) 859-6292. Thank you.
